Foreign language education at Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) started just one year after the university was founded in 1896 as Nan Yang College. Today, the School of Foreign Studies (SFS) at XJTU boasts a group of brilliant and talented faculty who are actively engaged in a wide range of research fields in linguistics and literature, and dedicatedly involved in teaching. SFS offers BA programs to English, Japanese, and French majors; MA programs in Foreign Linguistics and Applied Linguistics, English Language and Literature, Japanese Language and Literature, French Language and Literature, and Master of Translation and Interpretation (MTI) programs in English and Japanese. Beginning in 2013, SFS started to offer a Ph.D. program in Systemics of Language and Culture. In addition, SFS is also responsible for designing and delivering a diverse range of foreign language related courses to all undergraduate and graduate students at XJTU.
Responsibilities and Requirements:
• Teaching basic or advanced language skills to non-English major undergraduates and graduates.
• Teaching English and American Literature to English majors, Japanese Literature to Japanese majors, and French Literature to French majors.
• Offering courses on Linguistics and Applied Linguistics to graduate students.
• A successful candidate should be a native English /Japanese/French/German/Russian speaker.
• A successful candidate should have ESL/EFL Teaching experience and be able to make at least a one-year commitment.
• A successful candidate should hold a master’s or doctoral degree in any discipline, preferably in Linguistics, Literature or Education. TESOL/ESL/EFL/TESL/TEFL diploma/certification is a plus.
Salary and Benefits:
• Yearly salary: Approximately 120,000RMB for teachers with M.A., 170,000 RMB for teachers with PhD. degree. The salary is before taxes.
